It keeps coming up in Belgium news reports.

Freddy van Gaever announced in a press conference that his airline will start up March 2002 and will service two destinations in the USA.
He says that he has no money yet, no AOC and none landing and traffic rights, but, they would come in due course.
Aircraft of choice would be ex sabena A330, 4 of them, and apparently he has approached the owners with the proposition that he would take them, will not pay for them as there is no money, operate them with ex Sabena pilots, and if he makes money would pay for the lease. If the project fails, he simply would give them back. No state aid required thus.

Far fetched and opportunistic, you think ?
You bet. But on the other hand, if there is one guy who can talk money out of an investors pocket, it's Freddy. He is the champ on that.

Comments Guv ??

Yep, I actually posted this on the 18th: see here. (http://www.pprune.org/cgibin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=016560&p=3)

There was also a rather interesting article about it in De Standaard, which I can email you if you like (it's obviously in Dutch).

I wonder if this will be as successful as VLM - or like Antwerp FC? :D :D :D
