I heard a rumour of a chopper going down yesterday near Lake Argyle. Apparantly pilot and pax not injured; third hand information only so don't panic.

I truly hope that it was a misunderstanding (as may be the case since nobody else has mentioned anything in the last 24 hours) and that all is well up there.

I have not heard anything? I did hear about one last week. Pilot reported to have spinal injuries (said channel 7) But please do not quote me on that, but I didi hear about that last week.

The only crash up that way was a couple weeks ago, where they all survived!

Pilot is still in hospital with spinal injuries, and the pax that had to wait 8 hours for the RFDS are all out of hospital.

Was really disappointed in the media covering the story! they all attacked the RFDS at first for taking too long then complained that they could only land at certain airstrips. Obviously they expect the RFDS just to land anywhere they feel like :ugh:

"Passengers had a further wait as the closest landing strip was over an hour away by road which highlights the need for more airstrips" fark me you stupid reporters you can have a million strips in WA.

Then eventually it turned into a Jim McGinty bashing story for not giving enough to the RFDS.

:) totally off topic but RFDS are doing a great thing so people should just be grateful and stop attacking them for not having super dooper rocket boosters that can fly them anywhere in WA within a couple minutes like certain reporters expect.

Hey 'Dude09',

I agree heartily with you!

From what I used to see, most RFDS medivacs seem to be able to get 'there' in a 'few' hours at most - regardless of the location of the site.:ok::ok:

Now, try going to a Public Hospital in any capital city (Try Perth first...),
and, unless your head is actually falling off, or you're having an obvious heart attack - and thats no guarantee - you will probably sit in the Waiting Room for MORE THAN the same 'few' hours.....:}:}

Yeah! Those 'reporters' were having a well deserved 'go' at our
'Health Minister'.....:yuk::yuk:

Cheers to 'Our Heroes'...if / when WE need them, they certainly are!!:D:D

(Thread drift I know,...but I reckon its a well deserved one...)

Pilotdude, it's not necessarily a bad thing for the RFDS to take some stick. It may seem bad for them on the face of it, but the topic inevitably turns to funding and hopefully there is increased pressure on government to increase it.
