Hello fellow Pilots,

Could anyone share their comments on the type of lifestyle on the QR A300 fleet?

And if you have flown both the A300 and A330, which aircraft is more challenging and fun to fly from a pilots point of view?

Much appreciated.

Hi MMS,

The Qatar Airways A300 passenger fleet has been reduced to only one or two aircraft, and the remainder have actually now left the fleet and have been sold onwards for freighter conversion.

The current A300 fleet at QR is predominently a cargo operation (3 aircraft).

The remaining passenger aircraft are now flying less and less routes, mainly short haul regional routes (Dubai, Colombo, Tunis from time to time, Berlin very occasionally, Pakistan. The Moscow route has also been replaced by A330-200.) There is a suggestion that one aircraft only may be retained in the fleet beyond the planned phase-out of June 2008, to serve as a back-up aircraft for a couple of months.

It should be noted that QR has also taken delivery 3 weeks ago of its final A330 aircraft, which is a -300 version registered A7-AEO. QR will not take delivery of any more wide-bodied Airbus aircraft until its first A350XWB is ready in around 4 years.

Therefore, I would imagine that if you are being considered for the A300 fleet, it would be for non-passenger operations. The routes served by Qatar Airways Cargo can be found at:

Hi MMS
There's a strong rumor around saying that there are some changes comming for transfer requirements ... and the A300 drivers would have to stay on type for 4 or 5 years before any transfer!?!?
Morality: stay away from A300 if you can... Good luck

A300man Thanks for the right stuff :ok:

Safe flying
