AsA Bond

Can anyone give me some feedback about the AsA training bond? How vigourously is this enforced if you wish to leave the profession?

I have heard stories going both ways to be honest. I have heard one story of a guy wanting to leave, then being asked to pay it back, basically saying "show me the document that makes me pay it back" and ASA could not produce it.

Though a more recent story I have heard suggests that another person stayed because they were going to enforce it.

I would suggest that if you are talking about something "in the future", they will fix any loop holes by then because of "Story A" above and/or the Global shortage of Controllers.

There are 3 ways out of a bond.
1. Honourable - pay what you said you would when you were so keen to take the job - in exchange for a decent reference
2. Do a runner -expect it to catch up with you eventually, either as legal action if they are determined enough, or with a bad rap which will come back to haunt you when you least need it
3. Legal argument - if they have breached some part of their contract, you may have grounds to breach part of yours

There is most likely a 4th way. Used in unique circumstances where you are desperate to get out, but cannot / will not swallow having to pay the bond. - Do something to get sacked! They cannot ask for, nor make you pay a bond if they get rid of you. That could NOT be part of the contract you signed!

If you are only hanging around because of the bond, then ASA's game of deception is beating you...

Heard one guy recently requested directly to Canberra HR for a copy of his contract... and... 3 months later still no response... Given many BN and ML HR staff were somewhat left "pissed off" with the last HR staff re-alignment, I can't see the mass of bonds signed in the last 5 years having being delicately placed into a folder and carefully posted to it's new home in Canberra HR. Better luck asking Mr Shredder Machine to spit them back out maybe... Don't know about Tower bonds.

Also the story of the guy mentioned above that stayed because of his bond is not so straight-forward. Many other circumstances involved, and the bond was not the most important.

Feel free to challenge them. It's just business, nothing personal. Ask them for the orginal, not a copy - the original form that YOU signed. If you are in the union, use your "get one free" annual legal advice. Take them to the high court, as the running consensus seems to be it wouldn't hold up.

RYAN TCAD's option would be interesting.......imagine you bust coord every shift for a week. I thort we were getting rid of coord, better get in quick with that one.

Besides, there's plenty of things you could get sacked for that have no direct affect on the travelling public. Manipulate a cabcharge out of somebody and use it to pay for a hooker for the night. Dedicate yourself to beating you-know-who's sick leave record. Run a penis enlargement scam and (consenting) porn distribution network from your M drive. Call your favourite beaut female-type colleagues a 'girl' and you will be experiencing the delights of the job network in days:D
