MAS may appoint a foreigner with an aviation background as the technical adviser or chief operating officer in MAS as we lack anyone local suitably qualified for the massive job ahead. There is currently no post for technical adviser or COO in MAS.

A little housekeeping within MAS has already taken place with the appointment of a new non-executive chairman, Tan Sri Azizan (Petronas) and managing director Mohd Nor (Ministry of Finance). However appointment of an excutive chairman has yet to be seen in the near future.

It is hoped that the appointment of a foreign COO in MAS and heavy restructuring will pull the airline out of its continuous death dive. Four years in the red! The airline is again expected to make a net loss between RM500million and RM550million for the current fiscal year.

I'm glad that there certainly seems to be some house cleaning in MAS. As for alliances or a strategic new partner in the near future for MAS, FAT HOPE kudos! Get in the cleaners, we need to do some spring clean and soon too!

Fly safe! Capt Wooblah, your thoughts on the topic is greatly appreciated!
