EX - LOT aircraft built in early 2001. For once I am out of the loop but I wonder what Skyairworld will use the 145 for?

The aircraft has had it picture taken...your Fleet Street headline suggests it has broken half! Suggest you get a job as rubbish writing journo.

For anyone in the know - could someone explain the differences between the 145 family with that of the 170/190.

I don't know alot about them. Just curious.

Why are they not seen much round OZ? And where are saw going to operate them?

Hat. About the same similarity as Boeing is to Airbus! :E

The -145 was a jet commuter development from the very successful EMB120 Brasilia fuselage.

The 170/190 is a totally new airplane designed to compete against Boeing and Airbus on low density airline routes.

Different aircraft!

was the 145 a success?

It might hold some interesting data on how the 170/90's will perform on reliability.

Clearly th 120 was an outstanding product - arguably the best in its class some would argue.

isnt the 145 the same fuse than that of the 120 [i.e same production line]

145 was a success something like 800 manufactured

Hat.

The -135 and -145 had early engine problems, but like the EMB110 and EMB120, evolved into an extremely successful commuter aircraft.

I suspect economics beat them. 45 seats is not big enough and 45 bums doesn't pay jet engine costs in todays low cost operator scenarios.

Used in the states as regional feed. Kind of claustrophobic to sit in (think metro with jets) and has a rather limited range. There is a 145 XR model that does have obviously longer range and is a good bird.

I think the main reason the 135/45 wasn't tried here after high costs was its hot 'n' high performance.

In general, jets with less than 50 seats are on the way out in the USA so maybe they will get a go in OZ if the price is right.

Having travelled in the EMB145 and CRJ's I'll travel in the 145 anytime, but I'll drive to another city to avoid getting on a CRJ again.

I feel sorry for a state TRG police force in europe, they operate a 135, could you see 30+ heavily armed beefy guys in that cabin....

I have heard, and am of the understanding that the 145 has an airframe limit of something to the tune of 22000 hrs? Not many really for an airliner.

Stand to be corrected.
