I have 4700 tt, 2100 turboprop PIC, and only 270 jet. I just completed my app. Online for Jade. Some questions:

1. What can I do to further get Jade's attention?
2. What are competitive interview mins?
3. What is starting fo pay per month in usd?(web site is confusing).
4. What is a typical schedule for a resident line pilot?
5. Is there any kind of training contract?
6. Does the housing allowance cover the housing expense?
7. Is there a good relationship between management and the pilots?
8. Are most people happy there?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Conceivably, what flylikeanangel appears to convey is that your contract would be worthless; that you are a foreign guest worker [aka slave] in a communist country with no rights, no recourse and an ever changing roster that is really nothing more than a pacifier. :{

1. Not at a lot if you do not know someone in the company

2. Nearly all the latest joiners have widebody time.

3. Expect about 8000usd after tax. (including housing etc)

4. Crap rostering. Some guys fly 30hrs some fly 80+

5. Yes as mentioned 36000usd

6. Yes. Good appartnments for around 8000rmb

7. Give take relationship. They take, you give !!!.

8. The flying is great, loads of destinations. Some fantastic blokes to fly with from all around the world. Nearly new aircraft. Reasonable hotels and layovers.
The downside. No upgrades for any PICCs yet. Word on the street company just hired DECs. As an FO there is no chance of an upgrade due to the CAAC regulations. Even if you meet the suggested minimums to start command training (250 landings on type being one of them) to qualify in the left seat you will need 30 touch and go's. That is not going to happen in Jade. All the FOs looking for other employment. 6 just given notice with more to follow.
That said if you are stuck for a job and dont mind being committed to 3 years its ok. Keep in mind that for non type rated guys the training takes forever. Some pilots taking nearly a year from joining !!!:bored:

Way to go Jade! :ugh:

Is Jade management blind to the fact that lots of guys will be leaving if there is no way to upgrade? 30 T/G's in a 744 are a total waste of money on fuel and brakes and of course Jade will never agree to pay for this. Jade management should seriously start pushing CAAC to change this crazy rule.

Applicants: Consider your career path before joining this outfit. I suggest to apply for a position in a company where you actually can be upgraded eventually - not where the road has a dead end.

It depends of course on company policy.
IF that policy for the First Officer is gear up and shut up then that policy makes perfect sense.:}
OTOH, if experienced Commanders are available now, why bother to upgrade, especially if it is expensive...as it appears to be.
And lastly, hiring DEC's is always less expensive overall.

Next question?

I received an invitation for an interview next month. They offer me PICC contract, but I want to know if you can get an upgrade to captain in the future or that is impossible as happen to the First Officer. Besides I donīt know if they pay the ticket to get there (Shenzhen) or I have to pay it, another thing is that I donīt know the salary for a PICC.

Thanks a lot.

I thought there was a scheme in place where f/os were upgraded in Shenzhen Airlines on the A320/B737 did a year and came back for 744 upgrade. This being necessary because you can't be a B747 captain in China unless you've been a captain previously ?

Beware... at most of these Chinese operations, you will need to arrange your rerturn transportation and submit for reimbursement. A friend of mine took the bait, and it took him almost a year to recover his travel expenses. He is still awaiting hotel expense for his layover in Hong Kong for a night.

So did everybody else as well. Fact is, it is not working. :*
Not one pilot has completed this scheme. Problem is that Shenzhen wants value for their money when they train you for command, so they drag the flying out for years. But Jade is still promising new hires that this is a proper system in place. Bad bad behaviour Jade - Thou shall not lie. :=

Hi flylikeaneagle,

Would the roster allow you to commute between your base and Europe like in the good old Oasis days ?

Any european bases planified in the future ?

Cheers

Hello Dieana,
I will see you at the Jade interview. As far as I can tell the PICC position pays 11032 USD per month @ 6.88 RMB per dollar. I hear that maybe net after taxes. If it is before taxes well I walk immediately I am working a slightly less than stable contract nearby as a 767 Captain. I like where I work alot..My bosses are saints. As a mid fifties guy who had his pension stolen I am always looking to maximize income. I need a good commuting contract with at least 6/2 then 6/3 like I get now. I understand they will buy us Tickets home after 6 months. Also, I can get a 747 type for 14000USD so there numbers are off. I will hear them out but I do have a good fall back position.
