Okay heard something interesting, April 1st has since been gone but an interesting rumour which has some logic….

Carrier [x] is studying to if feasible to purchase 8 x 767-200’s from x.1 carrier – these machines are cheap [mooted around the US$2.5 – US$3million and these have just recently been through an interior upgrade]

Carrier [x] is purchasing these and putting them onto Domestic / New Zealand / Short Asia runs while waiting for aircraft to become available, there long term gain is convert them to ER status and change to freighters in a couple of years.

Can anyone else see the logic in this? Especially the west to east coast runs where nearly all a.c are running at full capacity and the Tasman routes have lost freedom air?

[I realise this would be more likely a windup, but…….. seems a different approach with 200seater aircraft?]

They'd be better off with an aircraft that can load 2 LD-3's side by side...IMHO.
