New route codes in CIS standing bids have appeared.
Dont know whether we are doing it but FCO has reappeared together with longer JFK trips and longer FRA trips.

speedbirdhouse
7th May 2008, 05:59
FCO trips are not scheduled services but charters.
JFK trips are longer as some flights ex LAX have been cancelled.
FRA, don't know????

No rumour but fact, FCO will be done by the Classic, as well as the extra LAX charters for World Youth Day (operated via Nadi.)

Busy Bid Period coming up for the classic boys. Back to 3 x week AKL-LAX as well.

I bet they'll miss all those PER returns :ok:

Have heard rumours that part of Boeing's compensation package for the late delivery of the 787 "may" involve them carrying out D checks on the classics........

If they are going to use the 300 to bring Herr Pope out for the Worlds biggest housie convention they might want to freshen it up a bit as well as a D check.:E

These are some of the latest rumours going around. Not sure how much truth in them but someone may know out there!

New pattern books for MEL will include trips to FRA, NYC shuttles and new Regionals.

This is unconfirmed, but from a very high level. The A380 will have a MEL base by year's end. This is due to the cost of paxing and accomodation for SYD base crew operating the A380 ex MEL.

Crews moving from Langham Place Hotel in HKG in 6 weeks. We're returning back to the Excelsior in Causeway Bay.

Premium Y/C to extend back as far as Doors 3 - an increase of pax from 32 to 40.

Concerns by some FAs over recent CSS appointments. There are claims that the company is favouring QCCA crews due to costs. The best may be chosen on the day, as they say, but the reality is that a QCCA CSM's pay is equal to a current FA. You do the sums.

Further concerns regard QCCA crews: This time with the Kiwis who are upset QCCA have taken away much of their flying.

Jetstar pulling out of Fukuoka & Nagoya. Why? Because the Japanese don't like nor want Jetstar. QF to reclaim these routes.

Another route QF mainline will be reclaiming back from Jetstar International is HNL. Airbus to operate from SYD.

Your rumours ...hope most of them become concrete.
As far as the AKL crew are concerned...they have no one to blame but themselves.
Qantas mainline still flies to HNL..4 times a week

Quote- "This time with the Kiwis who are upset QCCA have taken away much of their flying."

______________

I'll be happy when QCCA take the lot of it. Lock, stock and barrel.

Kiwis getting upset about an Australian airline giving "their" flying to Australians? :yuk:

If they want the flying I'm sure they could move over the ditch and try getting a job with QCCA - most of their countrymen are already here anyway!!!

Gee, sounds like the wheels have well and truly fallen off. How unusual.

Transition Layer,

... or they could try to get a job with AirNZ and not have any Aus/NZ argy-bargy to worry about (and spare the QCCA people the grief...).

Oh that's right, maybe they tried AirNZ, got rejected, so went to the Rat instead. :hmm:

-Jetstar are just about to start up a big Promotion with Japanese star "Becky". They are putting all this effort into Japan, and now going to pull out?
-HNL wise with JQ, if they pull this, do we get a free transfer to QF?(I actually prefer flying a new A330, compared to those horrid 767's
-Jetstar international must be going to get some new routes soon then. Athens musn't be too far off, we might see MEL-KIK, BNE-KIX. Expect a dogfight as AirAsiaX is coming into Town!

the Kiwi's are upset eh!
the sooner that QCCA take the every bit of flying from them the better.
ohhhhhh I have been waiting for this.................
finally Australian jobs going to Australians.....YES!!!!!!!

hope someone's budget/bonus will pay for the inevitable costs of the usual breakdowns of the classic in FCO. the costs were spectacular when it operated the PER/JNB in BP255, room nights numbered in the 1000s. does FCO still have the highest euro allowances?
when does Buenos Airies start?
yippee, back to the excelsior,HKG. are the V Atlantic hosties still there?
the HNL a/p manager wants even more flights, lot easier to sell than j*

indamiddle
8th May 2008, 06:53
hi cart exchange... on another thread someone said the FCO trips to do with the catholic hajj to sydney.
haven't seen or heard why change in length to other patterns. we need to know soon, patterns open for bidding on the 10th.

cartexchange
8th May 2008, 07:02
patterns are out on the crew web site
quite a few FCO and some good NAN trips for some boys with slips.
This should make a few people happy
Some really good LAX and FRA
Generally some good patterns, with a few horrors thrown in.

Yes, more good news!
Another plus is the divisor has finally dropped to 186 for all categories except CSM.

Rumour is that there is going to be allocated a certain percentage of QCCA crew members on flights. Is this possible within EBA 8?

No, not possible as QCCA must be allocated their trips after we have bid.

QFLHFA
8th May 2008, 12:43
Could patterns be built which aren't legal to QANTAS crew but legal to QCCA?

speedbirdhouse
8th May 2008, 13:00
No.

Thats not to say that scheduling wont try and get some of the newbies to do things that those with a few more years would know automatically, to be illegal.

biscuit chucker, if you are a member of the FAAA you would have received their email with links to the bid books.

Guys.. I am looking for some info on the Qantas carriers... are the pilots for Qantas, JetConnect, and JetStar all on the same seniority list? Do they fly together or separately?

Is there any ill-feelings from Qantas guys towards the JetStar pilots? I am considering applying to JetStar but want to make sure I am not going to limit myself forever from flying with the rest of the Qantas group.

Any info would be appreciated. I am currently a Captain on the Embraer 145 in the USA. My wife is from NZ/OZ and we are hoping to move her closer to home.

Thanks again,

Ryan

Also any info about working conditions for pilots in Australia would be welcome. Do you guys have a strong Union? How does it work with the contract guys... are they contract to hire and then they are part of the QF pilot group?

Thanks!

While I understand that to the new crew these may be new destinations the fact is that we used to fly to these and many more...

Under the leadership of Darth and Jimmy Bow Tie the airline has progressively reduced it's network to a shadow of it's former self...

He is no troll and EVERYTHING he posted is true.

Isn't it ?

twiggs
9th May 2008, 00:39
Whilst it me be true, this is not the place for rehashing the same old "I hate Darth" rhetoric.
We have managed to keep some civility in these threads by avoiding going down this emotional path, so may I suggest we ignore Lobe and his trip down memory lane.

speedbirdhouse
9th May 2008, 00:50
Where did he say, "I hate Darth" ????

He didn't, you did.

Try and remember Twiggs that this isn't the office.

Sycophancy counts for little in the real world.

twiggs
9th May 2008, 00:54
My point is just to keep the thread on track.
Things are very positive at the moment and we don't need reminders of the bads times gone.
If you (speedbird) want to support your old mate (lobe) then you will find this thread closed like the others that he has sent down that path.

cartexchange
9th May 2008, 01:05
twiggs
Lobe made some valid points.
Why should he be ignored.
You sound like one those bloody born again "things" that go around pretending the world is fine, in the meantime you just bury your head in the sand.
Oh and another thing about the born "again" is that they are usually the meanest and most hypocritical people that exist!
So don't tell me or anyone else who I should put on the ignore list, its still a free forum and I will decide what to do.

speedbirdhouse
9th May 2008, 01:05
Who is Lowerlobe trying to support in his post?

Your statement in reference to his post is completely nonsensical.

He made an unemotional AND factual statement that you couldn't stomach just because he used the words, "Darth" and "Jimmy Bow Tie"??????

You seem to have lost the plot.:}

Sorry Speedbird and Cartexchange and other genuine Cabin Crew.....

I did not intend to start or provoke anything however, it's no surprise to see who reacted to my post ....The office does not like any adverse comments do they?

In fact, the reason for my post was that I had seen this thread and then later saw on eBay an old map showing our routes of the 60's and 70's and compared to today's destinations was a glorious reminder of another era...

Although I'm at a loss at the description by Twiggs of this era when she referred to them as bads times gone:confused:

It's great to see all the new employment of long haul crew and you talking about going back to Rome even if only for some charters and I fervently hope that the company will expand and you get some new destinations that will make the job even better....

Cheers
LL

Funny but there was no problem or heated posts until until twiggsy girl showed up.
I hope Lobey's right and these new trips are just the start and we might get more of them. With Virgin flying across to the states we might pick up some new flights and maybe (shock and horror) some more slips and not transits.

Anyway for now it's looking better so lets make the most of it.

Its been a long time since we had a pattern book like this...full of choice and variety. There are some difficult patterns but they are high hours.Less time away more time at home.
There are some new EBA8 patterns in there and probably more to come.Carmen is beginning to kick.At least there is some balance.
It will be interesting to see what sought of flying is introduced when Le Croissant finally arrives.
New blood ,new flying...life is starting to head in the right direction.
