Hi All,

Look I know this may have been asked before, but I am hoping there is someone out there who can tell me a little about SFC. What they are like to work for, career progression and general salary and T and C's ? Just the general info for a budding young instructor.

Ring 'em up and ask them! They're in the book at MCY. Or PH for that matter!

Better still, pop in and see them in Perth and tell 'em you'd like a job!

You'll win points for being motivated! :ok:

They've been in NZ looking for sites for a flying college. Rented a Kingair, sites they were looking at were NP, TU etc........

I would say that this is the best operation flying training has to offer in Australia. It is instruction, which is somewhat (IS) boring, however T's and C's, which I understand is the original question are very good.

I will be carefully with what I say, however;

Award, with all of the fruit.

Pristine aircraft, (execption of possibly flat spotted tyres).

Staff travel with SIA (lowest possible priority, but cheap).

Excellent team of pilots.

Some other "bonuses".

Intelligent students, motivated...

Worst part was having to supply your own coffee.

There has been, and continues to be, progression from SFC into SIA in various guises. Cargo, Silk or Mainline.

In this current climate, there are lots of jobs around. If you want to instruct, and like spearmint flavoured milk, this is probably tops.

PM if required, but better off talking to them.

I moved on a while ago, but have fond memories.

Do I have to sign this?

Yeah good place to work. Basic pay could be better though, but the bonuses can be really good! Progression into the SIA is a strong possibility if you are wiiling to wait that long.:ok:

Nowhere is perfect, but then as with most jobs it comes down to the attitude of the individual and their expectations.

I left about 2 years ago, the salary is award but this is made up for by the bonus each year however that itself is dependant upon how well the airline does.

There is the ability to move into the airline group after a period of 4-5 years however given the current climate why go overseas when there are now options at home. Lifestyle choice really.
Its not a guaranteed move to the airline, but keep your nose clean and play the game :E and there should be no reason why your not given the chance.

As I say... could do worse :ok:

Ever heard the term of inmates running the prison? In this case, Stduents running the College. They seem to have all the priviliges and have first priority for everything...though it may have something to do with the Ops Manager who has no regards for staff.

The instructors teach them to fly, but have the lowest priortiy when it comes to staff travel, and according to your staff card you are not a pilot, you are merely "ground crew" - well that's what people in S'pore think when they see your card without "Flight Crew" on it.

The College provides sugar, milk and the hot water, but BYO coffee and tea, and make sure you keep your coffee and tea under lock and key otherwise it will be finished by the end of the day.

However if you want progression into SIA, this may be the place to be. I have heard of former staff going on to the SIA main fleet, Silk Air and SIA Cargo.
