Now 73 year olds wandering aimlessly around Florida with their left turn signal on is not exactly news, but they aren't supposed to be able to access the runway of an International airpoert while doing it...
Hard to figure what the most distubing element of this brief story is;maybe it is that he was;
1. Able to evade security in his car.
2. 73 years old.
3. Able to drive right onto the Runway.
Also reading the answer given by Airport Authorities (below), they are obviously assuming that any terrorists are blocking out their MS Outlook diaries for a month with "Wait until MIA completes security upgrade before attacking". At least now we know where the T5 Planning committee got new jobs...

MIAMI | A 73-year-old man drove his black Chevrolet Cobalt through a wooden gate and onto Runway 9 at Miami International Airport on Friday — raising questions about the airport’s security.
But airport leaders say they have an almost-immediate answer: They’re in the midst of upgrading the airport’s airside security from the wooden lift-arm system to a hydraulic system with pop-up barriers that they say would stop any vehicle. The new system will be operational in about a month.
