Just heard that the Boston Group has recomended that MAS get rid of all their buses and at least half their jumbo's...., It seems Mas needs a wide body with a sitting capacity of 180-200 seaters only to ply the regional routes. It also seems that they are evaluating the 737-800 and the 767. But the problem it seems is that the 737NG's are narrow body so they could be leasing a number of 767's for the job. The decision is suppose to be made preety soon, with a possible dilevery date as early as late next year. They are trying to work out a deal with boeing! I wonder what they going to do with all those extra crew then?????

Couldn't disagree with BCG more. In addition of 200 seaters, Mas should also rearrange arrival and departure time in batch to reduce connection time and consider 50 seater regional jets for feeder service to Southern Philippines, Northern and Eastern Indonesia and Southern Thailand.

With the present fare strategy, it makes sense to reduce aircraft size as large numbers of passengers elect to fly through Singapore to get to their destination and save themselves upto 30% of the airfare in some cases.

Fisherman, ditto. With the new opens sky policy between Malaysia and Thailand, that might be the way to go. All they need to do is negotiate with Indonesia and perhaps Philipines for the same, and then get to it.
