An Emirates A380 seatmap is out, at

Do you like it? How comfortable will 8 abreast business class be, seeing as 8 abreast is standard, non-premium economy on SQ?

How would you compare the comfort of business class on Singapore (4 abreast diagonal flatbeds at 55 inches pitch) with Qantas A380 business class (forward facing flatbeds at 6 abreast, 80 inches pitch)?

Looks like 4 abreast in Business to me or am I missing something obvious?

I think it depends on where the 380 be used. SQ regularly flies very long sectors, Emirates is a tad shorter. I guess they can get away with that. SQ has always made a big deal out of their comfort long distance, sooo...

5711 - That's first (4 across). The business class seems to have a staggered seating config.

Comparing the first classes against each other, Singapore has 12 4 abreast Suites on lower deck. Qantas has 14 first class seats also on lower deck, but no enclosing suite doors. Whereas Emirates has 14 first class seats 4 abreast on upper deck - considerably narrower than 4 abreast on lower deck.

Noting this is an Emirates A380 seat map and each carrier will be different but from front to back it is (numbers rounded):

Main Deck all Economy
WC x 4 in the nose
76 pax
Galley
135 pax
WC x 3
188 pax
Galley
WC x 3
62 pax461 pax to 10 WC = Ratio of 46:1
Mmmm, that sounds like fun.

Upper Deck, First and Biz
WC x 2 in the nose
Galley
14 First paxRatio of 7:1
Galley + 1 WC
58 pax
bulkhead
18 pax
Galley
WC x 4
GalleysRatio of 15:1

I cannot be bothered to check out the Pax:WC ratios of their existing a/c. There is no doubt that Y will continue to be deserving of it's name Cattle Class.

Its hard to make out but are there 5 not 4 WC's in the lower deck nose?

Just had the pleasure of Singapore - LHR in Biz on the A380 (and outward LHR - Singapore on the 747 for comparison). Quite simply, the bar has been raised substantially. Flat bed, twice as wide as the current BA and SQ 747 offering and far better than anything I have seen before. BA's Biz and 1st bookings on this route should fall away to nothing unless they do something quick; the difference is just that large.

I had a quick look into Economy also and that looked far far better than the BA offering - more like Premium Economy for all.

It will be interesting to see how the other high-end long haul carriers respond as the competitive edge definitely lies with SQ and the A380.

LHR still not quite ready for the A380 though - this morning's arrival resulted in 10 minutes of messing about before doors opened.

CallBell You could well be right. The line goes across two units but does not show a mark to indicate two. Giving them the benefit of the doubts:
Main Deck all Economy
WC x 5 in the nose
76 pax
Galley
135 pax
WC x 3
188 pax
Galley
WC x 3
62 pax461 pax to 11 WC = Ratio of 42:1

One day I might be geekish enough to compare the SQ seating plan that caiman27 likes so much. :p

Where do you find 461 economy seats on main deck, including those last 62?

What I get is:
Main deck front of 2nd doors: Emirates 76Y, Singapore 12R, Qantas 14F

Main deck from 2nd doors to back: Singapore 311Y, Qantas 332Y, Emirates 323Y

Upper deck: Singapore 60J and 88Y, Qantas 72J and 32 Economy Plus, Emirates 14F and 76J.

Etihad Business Class on A340 is 8 abreast flat beds. So this may compare with Emirates.

Apologies. :O
