Raising RM6.1 billion from sale of assets.
Are we seeing MAS being reborn or are we witnessing history repeat itself?

Mas didn't have enough money to take delivery of the new Boeing aircrafts. Had no choice but for the Government to 'assist' and at the sametime, the Government can inject some cashflow to the company. Bet Mr 019 is still collecting his portion from the new delivery.

Doubt Mas can reborn commercially;

Almost all commercial decisions (e.g. VSS, cutting down on route, etc) to turn the company around had been overruled by political directives. Don't think there are much alternatives the top management can take to restore the airline to profitability. Guess Datuk MD will let the airline runs on auto-pilot very soon or the supreme executive chairman may run it from Putrajaya.

Apart from the top management (GM and above), nothing or very little has changed down the line. Same old corporate culture;
- the boss like the least performing guy, because he is the least threatening person.
- you get promoted by making blunders, coming from the same kampung as your boss, or your boss is your uncle's classmates, etc except work performance or ability.
- cost cutting, profit, breakeven, efficiency and return for shareholders is aliens in Mas culture.
- you never get rewarded by sticking your neck out except getting chopped.

BOLEHLAND BOLEH ...........!!!!

It seems that the new Air Asia has its head screwed on, and is at least marketing itself very well. Good luck to them.

I wouldn't be surprised that they eventually take over a majority of the the domestic market.

Meanwhile, back in Boleh airline.....????

Yes if Air Asia can pull this one off they are really going to change the aviation scenes in Malaysia.

The other day on Tv the transport minister Lee Liong Sek sprayed blessing water on this carrier so they got one strong man to protect them from hasbeen MAS.

Subang is going to be operated from for quite a while as long as they got their strong men lined up.

What can happen in the future is that MAS will close down domestic operation due to non viability and Air Asia will pick this up. Later, Asian destinations will be added and finally all the other routes by MAS.

MAS will just close down to run away from it many creditors.

If nothing else works.....Spray some water on the aircraft. That might just do it. <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

It also helps if you grease the Transport Minister with a lifetime ticket price of US 53 cents (RM1.99) to any Air Asia destination & publish it in all major newspaper.

Only in Malaysia! :)
