What was the Panorama expose all about?

A chemical called TCP in engine supplied cabin air. I thought TCP was for coughs and colds!

panorama was about the 146 and 757 having multiple reports of fumes and resultant illness, incapacitation of passengers and flight crew. primary source was leakage of turbine oil into the air conditioning system via the engine bleed air. showed that air samples had been taken on board the aircraft which did show levels of TCP's (i think that's right) but levels were low.

specific reports from flight crew and passengers--

Flew LGW - INV, INV - LGW with FlyBE the other week,my first trip on a EMB 195 . Noticed a fairly strong smell of Fuel on Engine start up and whilst taxing to the stand at LGW. Maybe some connection?

Possibly the smell on start could be due tail into wind, no idea about the fuel smell while taxiing though, unless it was an outside smell.

Not a 195.

Often after push an aircraft is positioned tail into wind the exhaust drifts forward only to be reingested by the engined. Not too different to when you are sitting in traffic and can smell fumes from the car in front. What do you do in such a situation - I suspect you turn off your blower. What do we do? Much the same.

Have to agree with Mellow Yellow - Embraer, Flybe ABZ-LGW, couple of weeks ago... definite wiff once the doors were closed and the aircraft was powering up or whatever.... and stronger than I've noticed on other flights, and I remember thinking to myself - wonder if this is normal? Other than that very comfortable and quite quick I thought.

As was stated by Speedrestriction, the aircraft wasn't a 195. It was a 145 and diverted into Gatters having departed Southamton.

Smoke smell was apparently detected in the cabin before takeoff from SOU. Then diverted into LGW. Smoke was in flight deck apparently after take off.
