Worth a nostalgic look at the late Paul Mantz and some neat aerial footage from a 1939 movie...

Anyone know what the French reg aircraft is?

Just after the flying sequence a very young Rita Hayworth appears. What a girl.

Possibly a Travelair 6000? Looking at some pics it doesn't look quite right, but then my first thoughts, Stinson, Bellanca or Fairchild appear way off beam!

Cracking sequence, I saw the film on the box not that long ago I think. Completely forgotten the plot...

Hamilton Metalplane H 47 was the single engined 'star'

Other aircraft were Fokker F-10 and a Bellanca Airbus

Paul Mantz won a specially created Oscar for his flying sequences.

The model effects were rubbish by comparison.

I cannot find any info on where the flying was done and what the camera plane was.

One thing for sure, it was shot on a day with little wind!

One lives and learns, that's a new type to me! I probably identified it as a Stinson when I was watching the film...

Cheers
