Can anyone give me more info on NMindexStoreSvr.exe?

I understand it is part of Nero, but although Nero is turned 'off' it is always running in the 'Task manager' window and has a cpu usage of 90-95%- which is really slowing the computer down.

At the mo whenever the comp is first turned on I ctrl-alt-del and end the process that way and all is well.

So, why is it always there and slowing things down so much and is there a way to turn it off permanently? - except when I use Nero of course

Thanks for any info

Something very wrong there. I use Nero, and don't have that.

Have you checked in MSCONFIG to see if it's there? If so, just untick it.

If it refuses to go away, check your anti-virus!

Try this

It's the Nero scout program that indexes files for the rest of the programs in the nero family. To get rid of it simply turn off (Disable) Nero scout. You can do this by starting the nero scout program on the start menu and in the program choosing disable.

Or, you could just block it from starting up with the windows startup.

Not my guide, stolen from another forum where someone else had the same problem.

Press the Windows key and R at the same time (Or go to the "Start" menu and click on "Run")
Then when the dialog box appears bottom left i want you to type "MsConfig" This will bring up some Built In admin controls. I suggest only touching what you need or you can cause some fatal errors.
with that a side i want you to choose the "startup" tab
and look for the nero scout/nmindexstoresvr.exe and untick the box next to it
Then click Apply/Ok (Can't remember which appears)
Then close and select restart
when the computer restarts it will say you have used MSCOFIg to change settings just tick the box to say "Don't inform me again" and click ok and that should be problem sorted.

Hope that helps and isnt too confusing
