There are good schools. Depending on the age of your children, you have the Tanglin School for the younger ones and United World College for the older ones. They have maintained the "O" and "A" Level syllabi,I believe. If English is not your first language, there are Swiss, German and French schools also. Also an Australian school, where I'm told they speak a form of English!! (Only kidding, guys.) School buses are good and reliable, but quite expensive. Alternatively you spend a lot of time driving.

Several years ago, United was going to but a 767 domicile in SIA. At that time I was a first officer on the 747.

I had a three day time change layover, where I couldn't connect to get back, so when I got into my hotel that night I called an Escort Service and asked them to send over an Escort......

The man on the phone said "Would you like a Chinese girl, Indian, Malay or English girl". I said Malay...He said "She'll be over within 45 minutes", but I said, no, let her show up tommorrow at 8:00 AM and she must speak reasonable good English and must have a valid Singaporean drivers license.

At 8:00 AM sharp, a 29 year old girl showed up speaking perfect English. Better than mine, acutally, I speak American. I told her that my company was going to put a pilot domicile here in SIA. I wanted her to show me a grade school, middle school, high school, where I would live as an Expat and where I would live if I wanted to be part of the Singaporean Community and where I would never want to live at all.

We rented a car, and off we went. My conclusions were that this would be a place where my children would be safe and schooled well, learn at least one if not two additional languages, and my wife and I might be reasonable comfortable.

Uniteds grand plans fell through, but I would have gone......

Can wholeheartedly recommend AIS (Australian International School) - had two sons there myself in mid-90s

(Should mention that I am European, so selected from all available international schools).

United World College (UWC) has excellent standards also. Especially if you wish to do the UK system of O-Levels and A-Levels. Best of course is a visit yourselves to these schools when you get there or visit their web sites first (I only assume they will have sites)

Australian International School would definitely get my thumbs up. Apart from its academic standard, its location is tops (I hope it hasn't moved since late 90's).
