Jandakot Flight Centre is the ticket or perhaps The Aeroplane Company, Ad-Astral do not have a Baron online :)

There once used to be a cheap endo that could be done from YBUN, in a VFR only baron. Maybe call the aero club and ask.

Is JFC still allowed to conduct training? Last I heard they didn't have their own CFI.

They are a great plane, and quite forgiving.

Endo shouldn't take any longer than two hours, unless it's your 1st twin. I which case, this shouldn't be your 1st twin endo - as it's too expensive.

Finding a PA-31 endo is basically impossible unless your boss owns it, and allows it.

I think Paul Lions aviation at Jandakot have a Baron 58 & 55, maybe they can look after you?

I have a baron you can use but its in Sydney.
Cheap cheap too.

If someone offers you a 55 baron, it will do for a endorsement for both

What about Star Charter, they have a Baron and a couple of guys that can give endorsements, enjoy !!!

I hear one of them is dating Wiz of Aus's nanna.

As Braz said Shines can do the PA31, but they also have a 58 there a lot of the time now, I should know, cos its not parked in front of my hangar! :(

A Beech Travelair will also cover you for type endorsement, so if you find a company with one of those, it will cover you for 55 and 58 also... :ok:

Turbz

That's guy for you info, I was going to ask about the PA-31, but might leave that for down the track, when more experienced.:)

Travelair? They are just about extinct aren't they?

Baron is much more fun than a PA-31! Both endorsements are useful in this day and age!

Shine will not do a PA31 endo, unless your staff - nothing worse than t/o power then P - assy ATO in a TIO-540. not worth destroying turbos for peanuts.

Guys go over east to get PA31 endo's.

And just how would you destroy a turbo?. the engine would still be running during an simulated Assy, would it not?. cant hurt em by reducing power, at what ever rate you wish. Just as long as that oil is flowing through the bearings, All will be fine. ;)
Maybe cylinders is what you meant??.:ok:

Here here, besides turbos are the cheap part. That is why owners won't do endorsements in their Pa31, because few understand them.

Turbos and engine fails. Call China Southern and see how many times they have changed turbos or engines, with 5 Seneca V's. I never saw them change one in my time there, If its done properly you wont have a problem.

If thats the case, then why do you inch back a TIO-540 so it slowly comes off boost, let them run below 1000rpm for 3 or so minutes before shutting down along with making sure the EGT is below 800?

... to increase the life of the engine. Pulling the power on a turbocharged engine will not make it go bang and kick the bucket immediately. It will however seriously reduce the life of the turbo/engine and greatly increase maintainance costs. as newcomer said, if it is done properly there is no issue. The more gently you treat the engine, the better it will treat you.

Actually the turbo debate is quite interesting, but I have no idea whats involved. I know CSWAFC have the Seneca V, and FTA just got the DA42 which also has a turbo, but what is the correct procedure in a cheiftain for simulating assymetric?

And if it can be done, why the 2 inches per minute or whatever the time is when reducing power for descent?

the wizard of auz

to reduce sudden cooling of the engine......... not the turbo.
Believe me. I work on the things every day. the idle down is to keep oil flowing through the bearings to assist cooling them. If a turbo is shut down hot, it basically boils the oil that is remaining on the bearings (because the flow has stopped with the engine) and the bearings then collect carbon and varnish as the oil cools.

Cap'n Arrr (http://www.pprune.org/forums/member.php?u=180997), Ive always operated turbo engines decreasing 2 inches 2 min before Tod then 2 inches @ Tod and 1 inch every 500ft until 22 inches, that was at CS, but now in the UK I jumped when i was told to just pull the throttles back on the Seneca 2 from 30inches to 20 inches and they dont seem to have many problems, they even did this on their PA31's. So Ive learnt to do what the owner wants, since its his engine.
