Hi All,
I am going to be attending the FTO Exhibit in London. I have compiled a list of questions (see below) I was just wondering could those in the know have a look and add to it. (I have already searched google and here looking for further questions which I may have missed):rolleyes:

The school's philosophy, goals and objectives:

Is there housing, financial aid and additional training available such as aerobatics or multi-engine training to broaden your experience?

How long has the school been in business?

How many students have graduated and how many do they have right now?

What is the classroom facility like?

What kinds of aircraft are used for training?

What type of School is it:
1. Part 61 schools refer to the parts of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) under which they operate. Part 61 schools require less structure and accountability.

2. Part 141 flying schools require lot of structure and accountability. Periodically audited by the FAA and must have detailed,

3. Aviation colleges (Nationally accredited pilot training institutions)

How much does it cost to learn to fly? Not base cost, from zero all the way to Commercial IFR is.

How much does it cost for (Recreational, Private, Commercial, Multi, IFR, Instructor) training?


What is included in the cost (hourly and for the licence)?

When does this charge begin (from the time first meeting with the instructor or when the engine start)? – if quoted hourly.

How does the CFI supervise flight training in the school:

Will you have a principal instructor or will your bookings dictate who you fly with?

What are the differences between Instructors and is this reflected in the cost:

Is there a price difference between each Class:

What type of airport is the school at:
Controlled airport or Uncontrolled airport

How many students does each instructor have?

How is the training scheduled (1.5 versus a 2 hour booking)?

How are cancellations due to weather or maintenance dealt with?

Is there a no show policy?

How are student training records kept and by whom?

Is groundschool run continuously or on an as required basis?

How does the school's insurance cover you as a student from both personal protection and personal liability perspectives?

Are the following included if applicable:

Security clearance fees?

Finger-printing fees?

Visa fees?
