I realize there are numerous threads about living in Dubai, but they all seem
to deal with cockpit crew. I have the chance to be posted to Dubai for
a cargo airline but this will be in a management/sales position that is ground
service based. Without being buried under with posts on why would I want to that, can someone post what actual costs are to live in Dubai for a
family with two young school age kids? If moved there I wont be travelling
half the month but will actually be in the environment most of the time.
Where are the suitable places to live with a family?? What would be the
normal cost of living for a family of four for the month, with just normal
lifestyle, no eating at fancy restaurants, expensive toys etc.?
Would appreciate real world information. Thank you.

Dubai is ridicously expensive for the place it is.
This because there are no market rules and no competition
Company tends to underline their benefit ( housing, school etc) as big assets but the reality is the nobody wants to live here and if possible I would say 95% of the pilot population would opt for a different base.
Ergo this huge benefit are actually the minimum to keep people here and the real value is far lower then what they advertise...but still this is a good way of pumping artificially up the real estate market...and your salary.
Renting a decent house here costs more then in central Paris....so feel like suggesting that ,unless you will get payd a huge lot of money and have all other expenses covered ..just stay away!!
