Well mates, Just purchased my first (own) garmin, a 96C. Any advice or tips for a newby on type?

BEFORE all else fails.........read the Bloody Manual!!!!

PS....yes I am being a smart ar$e but at the same time read it and play with the GPS a bit and get to know where all the menu's etc are and how to use them.:ok:

PPS.........find the got button......follow magenta line:E

go to Tandy, or dick smiths, get some 2000 Mah batteries, and your 96C will last for approx 9 hrs! per charge.

so now its gonna be a GNS430, 296, 496 and a 596, tablet PC.

You gonna need solar panels on the FTDK coz that new alternator is going to struggle!

I bought a 96C unit about a month ago and love it. Seems ideal for my GA flights. Personally, I prefer the use of batteries to having yet another charger.
Pretty easy to use with no tips necessary for its operation.

The only tips I'd mention is I like the flight logging and the ability to download the track and see where you've been in http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map?output_home . I know this is not unique to this model, but interesting nonetheless.
