View Full Version : Private L-1011
Hello fellow Desert rats, any private L-1011's flying around the Middle East?
Heard a rumour that.....
Regards to all
Why....yes they have, with Captain Rodney in command. Any more questions?
Yep, Saudi Royal Flight have 2 L1011-500's and someone is operating King Husseins old L1011, but I havent got a clue if this is totally private or for executive hire.
Now, WTF is Captain Rodney :)
Mutt.

Hi Mutt, How's life?
A few years back Al-Anwa had one sitting at AAC in Dallas, Tx. It hadn't moved for the 3 years I was in and out of there. Don't know if it's still there or what the story is...

At least one ex AIA (Kallita) L10 was observed being ferried last month from the desert in USA to Amman. Anybody have the scoop on that?
YES, on the L1011F, and another to follow shortly.
Mutt----Captain Rodney now flies the ex-RJ VIP aeroplane, on demo now. A really nice 'ole boy, ex-Lockheed production test pilot.

Who's buying the AIA freighters (one careful owner from new) then and whats the story with JY-HKJ(top machine)!!!
Any jobs going as VIP ops appear to be the only ones paying decent £££'s

The TriStar at AAC still there (as of Thursday). No plans to start work on the interior.
The ex RJ TriStar is operational, based in Saudi. Both owned by Al-Ibrahim family as well as a 727.
Sorry folks to deviate from the thread.
Hi Oceanic: Do you have any contact info for this L1011 and B727 operator? Are they looking for any B727 crews?
Thanks!

I have the phone #'s and fax if you want them...e-mail me and I'll pass them on.

411A: ...to be operated or used for spare parts? Isn't it true that those whales need a "C" check every 16 months, whether flown or parked?
Depends on the individual maintenance program, GlueBall. Hours/cycles and calendar, it all counts. The program they are on now requires a 'C' check every 4,200 hours or 18 months, whichever occurs first.
All are are calendared out now. Not for spares, to be operated.

Thanks for info. I believe that AIA had 6 of only 13 total (Worldwide) converted freighters, with the exception of the Royal Air Force -500 Cabin-Cargo-Door/Tankers. Does not seem to be a popular freighter conversion type, perhaps because of the RR-524s maintenace unpopularity?
