i have been invited for screening for jetairways as a cpt, i was wondering wether any expats curently working for jet could give me some info on the process and what it is like to work for them..

JET normally provide USD$1,000 towards out of pocket travel expenses for pilots invited to interview/screenings.

Yes, I received EURO equivalent of USD $1,000 in CASH following my interview and SIM in Amsterdam one year ago.

Thanks for that info.
Things have changed in the meantime. Screening last october.
No refund yet.
Delay blamed on new government procedures for payments abroad.
(but 6 months?? :{:mad:)

I have a friend there who is about to leave. After a reasonably happy start, things have gone steadily downhill. Hotac quality is sliding, and per diems have all but disappeared. With the slide in the US dollar added to this, the remaining package is unattractive to say the least.

I gather that a shortage of pilots renders leave difficult/impossible to get. Things are unlikely to improve, since the pending exodus will only aggravate an already bad situation.

Caveat emptor!

To answer the question about the screening. there is no interview per se. The candidate has an oppoirtunity to ask the Jet Airways staff questions about the employment opportunity.

The simulator part of the screening is an abort somewhere during the takeoff. Second takeoff there will be an engine failure inflight. The flight then continues to a single engine ILS, hand flown, and a single eingine go-around. After that the failed engine is restored and the session is completed with a visual approach with a 15kt cross wind.

That is the 777 capt screening.

I've been working there about 6 months and although there have been some unilateral changes to the per diem the contract is intact. I am based in BRU and have not had any trouble getting paid tickets back to the U.S, at the conclusion of my block on days. I expect to be based in the US in June concurrent with the start up of the BOM-PVG-SFO route.

The entire staff is overburdened and rostering has a hard time doing their job but the reasons for it are many.

The pay comes on time. the hotel accommicdations are reasonable. the staff is friendly and responsive to the expats.

Leave is almost impossible to come by. This may cause some challanges as pilots begine to use sick leave to get time off. This seems to be an accepted custom at Jet Airways among the domestic crews.

I am happy with my situation and the future looks bright to me. I'm retired from a U.S. carier with a nice pension. I wouldn't stay if the situation was bad.

There are lots of things to complain about if that's your personality. For those that can go with the flow it's a good gig. The Indian pilots have been impressive in their flying skills and knowledge.
They have also been very accepting of the expats even though we are doing work they could be doing. They have a wonderful attitude and are a pleasure to work with.

Info on Jet Airways is hard to come by. What is the current contract and typical patterns on the 777. Any info would be appreciated, I'm in the same boat - looking to hang my hat and try something new.

Agree with everything PVGflyer posted. One difference, the visual is flown on one engine without the FD and A/T.

The FPV is allowed and although the wind component starts with 15 knots cross it was increased to 30 knots on base leg. Land with 30 knots cross wind, ok if your current on type.

Air India is offering USD12,000 per month, plus per diem, end of contract gratuity a 3 year contract with a ticket to your home base in my case Perth.

If Jet can come up with something similar I would jump at it.
