To the instructor onboard C172 VH-DZW (the one with the big "AA" painted on the tail), that departed runway 12 at YBMC about 0400 UTC yesterday, I'd just like to say "Well done"!

Teaching your students to do their run-ups at the holding point while other aircraft are waiting to depart takes a special kind of arrogance!:ok:

I would not do them if an a/c was behind me, however had they suspected plug fouling or ice in the carby and did not realise you were behind them maybe they would be almost excused.

Or am I just looking for an excuse for them:suspect:?

J:ok:

PS did you come past this way yesterday? Would have thought the FTDK would do TMOR to YBTL in one hit.......did you need a Mooney fix or something?

Heya Jaba!

They must have known I was there - I had to give way to them cause they got their taxi clearance call in first - and would have heard mine.

I can do YMOR-YBTL but flew YSCB-YMOR-YBMC-YBUD-YBTL on Saturday cause I had some business over on the coast.

Flew YBUD-YBTL at FL120 - 170GS most of the way. Only problem was they held me at FL120 until 30 GPS TL cause of meat bombing at AYR - took a bit of getting down. O2 saturation on the nasal cannula was 93%.

Meat bombing at Ayers Rock was the cause of your late descent clearance into Townsville?

That's some faaaaaaaaaarkin' big seperation going on there!

Whatever happened to "Check all clear behind" before doing run ups?

IMHO etiquette includes not being at the "ready" point when not ready.

At least he wasn't in front of an open hangar with a/c up on jacks and cowls on the floor- have seen that too!

I have noticed a lot of "Airmanship" lacking these days....... Isn't it taught anymore??? or are there too many Ego's out there!

Starting up and blowing the other aircraft behind you while they load passengers ( who were already loading before you closed the doors!)
Parking tail to tail and blasting the crap out of anothers control surfaces....
Changing your estimate on the second radio call after you have heard the other inbound aircraft, so you can be "number one" .

Sheesh!!

i seem to remember at one of my lessons we were doing runups at the holding point for rwy 12 at YRED, and we saw the skydiving aircraft taxiing, and suggested they backtrack from the previous taxiway so we could finish our runups without issues.
Thats how it should be done if there are other aircraft waiting (if doing runups at the holding point).
am I right?

To the _____ who posted at 1055 UTC on PPRUNE displaying in glorious fashion their obvious lack of paitence, understanding and foresight by assumption (due to own self importance clouding intelligent reason) I'd like to say well done :ok:

Letting us all know this here takes a really really special kind of arrogance!!:ok: (and I mean really special)

You have the rego and company name. Why not ring the establishment concerned and discuss it directly, rather than whinge on this forum?:)

The operator in question deserves the right of reply and has advised:

The aircraft was not conducting runups at the holding point. The student pilot was trying to get his head around the next atc calls and the aircraft was at the hold point no longer than 1 minute.

I would like to add maybe this pilot should remember his days of learning to fly. I am sure he delayed many seasoned "veterans" as well.
