JetBlue Founder Starting Airline in Brazil
By JEFF BAILEY

David Neeleman, who as founder of JetBlue Airways helped to redefine start-up carriers in the United States by using new jets and offering above-bargain-basement service, said Thursday that he would start a domestic airline in Brazil.

He has already agreed to buy 36 Brazilian-made jets with a total list price of $1.4 billion.

Mr. Neeleman said he had raised $150 million to finance the airline and invited Brazilian consumers and travel agents to suggest a name for the carrier, promising the first person to submit the winning name free lifetime travel on the airline for two.

For now, SkyWest has earmarked $150 million for investment opportunities outside the US, he said. It has "working relationships" with prospective partners in Europe, Brazil, Mexico and China, but he declined to provide specifics while noting, "We will have substantial opportunities for growth."

A friend of mine came across these two articles and thought they might be related. The full article says that Neeleman has ordered E-195's for this new airline.

Yeah that's the airline. They are having a competition to name the new company. The winner gets free flight benefits for life.
