The last of 29 MD90's delivered to Saudia (HZ-APW) was spotted at LHR tonight. Saudia now has the largest fleet of the type in the world, about one-fourth of all 110 planes built.

Can anyone shed some light on a rumour that the plane not is the most suitable for Saudia's ops because it is too big and heavy for several domestic airstrips in Saudia Arabia, earlier served by 737-200 ?

have heard local comments to that effect that a small number of 737's were being kept to serve several cities that posed performance restrictions on the md 90...don't know how true it is..comment from a saudia pilot

Not 100% sure but think on some runways they have to be at a reduced weight due pavement classification.

Skip is correct, but this probably has more to do with the actual airfields rather than the chosen aircraft.

Whatever happened to HZ-AP1/AP2/AP3/AP4 ??
