Boarded the 8:30am from Glasgow->LCY and the Captain announced a 40 minute delay before we could depart due to a delay at LCY.

He said that a few Amsterdam planes were being held back, causing congestion at the stands and it was "most unusual" or even "strange".

He repeated this later on, it's obvious he was not being told just by his manner. At any rate it was nice of him to share these thoughts with us as we could then understand and wait patiently, by our ever-lovely BA crew who at least watered us :ok:

Anyone know what was actually going on??

I was in AMS in the afternoon. There were some delays waiting for the deicer since most of the a/c had snow on the wings. Possibly earlier the wx was worse and this can slow down traffic.

Can confirm there was snow in the Netherlands this morning - arrived AMS from MAN late this evening and still many long delays remaining on departure boards (3hrs+ in some instances). Schiphol seems to suffer quite badly in the snow for some reason...

It sounds like they must have literally ran out of places to park the planes in LCY then, hence we had to wait - thank god the apron extension is nearly complete :E
