Previously been a big fan of FERAS for great support but recently done a week trip across the Caucuses & Central Asia with a bunch of destinations that FERAS advised they could provide 90% coverage on and it was a very mixed level of support. It all looked good with all requested services & support all confirmed in advance in writing, the illusion even continuing with an advance Satcom call to confirm ETA & services but OMG we experienced vast differences in levels of support from as good as they've been in Moscow to zero support, in some cases due to the FERAS rep being denied access to the airport (Baku) because the other handler appears to have a mob connection (owned by) to a prominent government minister.

I'm not beating up on them; just a head's that their good name in some locales doesn't mean it's the case in others. Not the end of the world but glad I had a wadge of cash to pay for services.

This is why I use any one of the three in the CIS.

RUSAERO, Streamline & FERAS. As FERAS is so close to UV, I only use when I can't get cover with the other two. I am fortunate to know and socialise with all the founders/owners/directors of all three companies, so I make my choice on station capabilities.

I will make a suggestion that within this forum we start a thread on FBO/handler service provision/performance from operators. Good idea?

Dear all,
As a groundops director I am directly involved in selectin FBO`s for our ecexutive company.
Feras has proven its mettel in eastern europe and parts the GUS.
Problem is as mentioned above; ther is a mob connection in Russia and some of the former GUS states. The one doing the mobbing is Rusaero.
Not only do they want to control the whole of MOW they actually control the whole of VKO. Also other Russian airports seem to be on the tit so to speak of this company.
Feras has opened an office in DME to get out of the way of Rusaero, I am wondering how long it will take for Rusaero to kick them and everybody else for that matter out of DME and SVO.
If you want to be 100% sure to receive adequate services in the former GUS it is wiser to comply with the rules of this game and either deal directly with Rusaero or go via streamline , who will then deliver their paperwork at Rusaero`s desk and vice versa. Its a jungle out there, better know the terrain

Hi all,

I fully agree with NSC, although it's sad that this is the way competition is going on in Russia and former CIS states. We are flying VERY often to any place in Russia and I can tell you that our company has been given the choice: either you stop working with Feras or Rusaero will make sure you will be facing 'difficulties'!:= On the other hand I can't say anything bad about the service given by Rusaero, especially the Central Office seems quite professional to me. I know that their service at VKO could improve a bit, but overall we are quite happy. Coming back to Feras, I know that in the Eastern part of Europe they really do a good job:ok:

Hi,

Yes also quite often in the former russian contries, and no other way then accept the situation they set up...

For a trip in Kazakstan, we were quite satisfied of the work done by rusaero...much better than the service received in VKO...to be seriously improved...

And, I vote for the FBO/Handling specific thread..excellent idea..

much better than filling a "survey" form on the front desk besides the guy from who you're expecting a full service :E

For those of us operating on the west side of the pond, there are already comments sections in fltplan.com and airnav.com which come in handy wrt hotels, fbos etc etc.

Am stuck Cayman Islands awaiting our pax and would like to commend Island Air on their excellent service and handling. Couldn't have asked for more informative or efficient handling, really well done.
