Saw this in the TTF for YSSY tonight;

RMK RF00.0/000.0 DISTANT LIGHTNING SW TO S 6AC140

I'm clear on the meaning of all of that except for 6AC140 - can anyone shed light on it for me? :ok:

cant help you with the BV and IT. Does it say anything in AIP?? //// doesn't necessarily mean visibility, only when it's in the spot reserved for vis. The slashes mean are that they don't have the data for that particular item of your metar. (Admittedly most commonly vis. at places with an auto met station for example)

Just had a quick look in the decode section in AIP and the BoM website, but no reference to BV or IT that I could see. :confused:

Once asked the same question to BoM. Apparently is maintenance/technical data sent via the same telemetry as the weather info. BV is the battery voltage of the backup battery and IT is the internal temperature. Sometimes gets broadcast as part of METAR or TTF in error.
