Ok the big one is the HH Hercules...and the small one? It's 1947, 2 blades, USA, a grey sky(!)....

Looks like an early Bell. Maybe an early 47B? Just a guess.

Considering the tricycle gear and the shape of the cowling around the rotor mast, my guess is Sikorsky S-51 / H-5.

Looking at the undercarriage, I reckon Sikorsky is right. The Bell main gear looks to be in a different position to the picture.

Well............... I t looks like a 2 bladed M/R and I think I see a T/R guard, so I'm going to have to go with the Bell Ranger.

It's a Bell Not Sikorsky at least by the shape of the nose, also look at the mast and cowling around it, and if it where Sikorsky the tailboom should be pointing more upward from the fuselage.
So I think Nick is right it is Bell
