I hope that the Irish have a great day of celebrations today and that they continue to enjoy well-deserved peace:):):)

A very kind thought from B A Lert, and wishing all fellow Irishmen and women around the globe a very happy St. Patricks day.

I shall be e-mailing my brothers a 'long distance' good wishes (I live in Kent,UK while twin brother lives in Wellington and younger brother in Hamilton New Zealand, though all born in Dublin's fair city).

I hope I don't send them the dreaded Irish computer virus (http://www.jokefile.co.uk/computer_jokes/irishvirus.html)

Now, where did I put the shamrock to pin to my lapel?

Sadly no Saint Pat's Day party for us this year, we will be working out of town on my new career in a little town in Southeast Oklahoma. :(

(Our friends will be going through withdrawal. :p)

(Yup, at 60 I'm starting a brand new career helping our youngest son's new company get started. Taskmaster he is, making us work five days a week, all day long (well at least 6 or 7 hours a day Monday through Friday. ;))

(Okay, okay, some days it is only three or four hours a day, including driving time.)

And to all Oz residents - don't forget that St Patrick's day is the last day to plant your Sweet Peas.

I elieve that I heard that it is the appropriate day to plant potatoes - both early and late varieties (the crop-ready date being determined by the rate of development rather than the earliness or lateness of planting). There was also mention of it being the day when Welsh folk place a potato in each pocket and spend the day fondling them as a cure for rheumatism.

Didn't the Vatican change St Patrick's Day to last Saturday as it couldn't be in Holy Week? If not we'll have to celebrate again tonight.;)

I thought St Paddy's Day was last year?

17th Mar 2008, 23:47
I thought I'd seen something about it being St. Patrick's day recently. Usually there's a lot of noise emanating from all the so-called Irish bars across from me (only because they have Guiness on draught - but run by the local mafia) on the day. Or maybe the Irish have done pretty badly at rubgy recently and they're all keeping a low profile...?! :E
