Hi, when using vista it is forever asking me me for permission to do the action that I have asked it to do. Is there anyway way of switching this facility off.
Thanks.
Hi rogerg
Start -> control panel -> security centre then turn off user account control
Edited to add be sure that you know what you're doing as switching the UAC off leaves you vulnerable to nasties if you are running as an administrator

Thanks Whizz.
This is for my daughter who is doing media/grapics work and logs in as the owner. If I take the actions you suggest is she likely to encounter any probs.
Thanks.

Hi rogerg
Running as an owner/administrator is fraught with danger as software can be doing things in the background without your knowledge. Best plan for everyday use is to log in as a user with no admin privilleges.

Hi Whizz, I just shut the computer down and then restarted it and I was just asked to enter the password. I think that just makes me the user, right?

Morning Rogerg
Its the type of account that you need to check, both admin and user accounts can be password protected. This link should help http://http://www.vista4beginners.com/Manage-User-Accounts
