Don't sweat the color vision waiver. For the second class medical you just have to make an appointment with the local FSDO and they schedule with the tower to shoot light gun signals at you. You only have to identify white, green and red.

For the first class medical, you schedule a flight with the FSDO. You can expect to be quizzed on the colored symbology on aeronautical charts, aircraft instrumentation and airport lighting. This flight will take place after sunset.

It's not a big deal. The color vision waiver (actually called a SODA--Statement of Demonstrated Ability) is the most common one issued.

Good luck. Fly safe.
