Hi guys,

I'm pax and working on a private project and wanted to ask a simple question:

Does Easyjet have less bums on seats in the winter than the summer? My belief is that the summer routes are jammed and the winter routes less so. This is based on my experience on the Basle-Liverpool or Basel-Luton runs, so is it my perception or do less people fly?

In addition, I was trying to book Basel to Liverpool for December (e.g. 9 months+ away) and the www wouldn't let me, I assume this is because I am too early and not because the route is cancelled / moved to Zurich..

PS. If its sensitive company info (like I say Pax not industry so I don't know what secrets get guarded..) then please PM me to tell me I am a twonk.

It goes for most airlines, that load factors are a lot higher in the summer than in the winter. Even with higher prices in the summer, the planes are still a lot more full in the summer.

Easyjet makes money during the summer and loses money in the winter. The financial reports and forecasts are readily available on easy's website.

The winter schedule is not for sale yet and will not be for sale anytime soon. If they released the winter flights now, then it would be difficult to change schedules, frequencies and times if people had already bought tickets.

Commercial considerations as those you asked about are not secret. We, the staff, will not be told anything sensitive at all regarding the commercial side of the operation, as easyJet is a PLC. Only the managers know these things. A good example is GB Airways. I doubt many outside the board rooms, if any, had any idea that the company was buying GB until it actually happened

Different seasons bring different passenger types too - Palma's, Valencia's, Alicante's are quieter during the winter for sure, but the many daily flights to Geneva for example (3-4 from Bristol alone) during winter, are chock a block with skiers.

Load factor has been better this winter because of some very competitive seat sales aswell...
