Costs of Class 1

hi all,

i have just been on CAA's website, i am slightly confused as to the cost...in the medical certificates table there are two different prices for class 1, one being the 'JAA Initial class 1' cost £310 and second being 'CAA Initial class 1' cost £206.

Is the total price the sum of both?

You'll need the JAA if you're just starting out. So just the £310, and they want paying when you book. Think "buy now, pay later", but the other way round.

The CAA initial is for people holding old CAA "for life" licenses whose medicals have lapsed for a long period, hence requiring a fresh initial medical.

Alternatively, go elsewhere. - Should be less than 310 EUROS here including flight and a night out and hotel...
