DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW IF IS TRUE THAT YOU CAN SIT THE ATP WRITTEN EXAM, EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T MEET ALL THE NIGHT AND CROSS COUNTRY REQUIREMENTS, OR DO YOU NEED TO HAVE SATISFIED ALL REQUIREMENTS?
THANK YOU!

You can sit the written whenever you want, as long as you have the endorsement for it. Bear in mind the result is valid for 24 months-then it expires.

Btw ... You don't need an endorsement for FAA ATP written examination.( FAR 61.35 does not apply on that part )
You can do it anytime after you have your Commercial certificate.

FAAJAA,

The ATP like the Flight Engineer writtens may or may not expire after 24 months. According to FAA Washington Legal, if the holder of an ATP or FE written works for a Part 121 or Part 135 commuter, while the written is within the 24 month period and is working for a Part 121 or Part 135 Commuter and has gone through the carriers training program outside of the 24 month period, the written is still valid. Does that clear up the issue? Like most of us, probably not.

danlotte,
In the US, all you need to sit the ATP written is $60. No commercial licence, no flight time,no endorsements, nothing!
Anyone can do it....! I did it for fun shortly after getting my private licence.
