People who have been injured while walking and texting on their cell phones may be in luck.
A London street is experimenting with padded lampposts to protect those not paying attention from banging into them, ITN reports.

Twenty-nine-year-old Matthew McChesney was arrested after police stopped him for speeding Wednesday. Police say they found more than 10 pounds of marijuana and about $100,000 in cash in his car.
Police obtained a warrant and searched a home rented by McChesney in Harlan early Thursday morning. Police say they found about 6,700 pounds of marijuana wrapped in large plastic bricks filling the basement.
McChesney faces preliminary charges of dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana. Police say McChesney likely also will face federal charges.
Sheriff Ken Fries says the drugs seized Thursday could have a street value of more than $6 million.

Maybe they should change the padding to spikes.. That'll make them watch where they are going

And who's paying for the padding on the lamp posts? Not the tits who walk into them, but every other council tax payer.... How cross do I get?

Gets worse than that, firestorm. Think of how often the padding will need to be replaced due to doggies doing what doggies do naturally to lampposts....

(And that before we think of the padding ripped off by the yoof of today)

And who's paying for the padding on the lamp posts?118 118, a phone directory service, found that one in 10 people has been hurt while focusing on their cell phone instead of where they were walking. 118 118 will provide the padding, and in return will be allowed to advertise on them.
There was a time when the verges of highways were lined with sturdy trees and / or electricity distribution and telegraph poles. Now most 'services' are buried and the trees have been felled as they presented a lethal risk to motorists. Those poles that remain are designed to snap-off rather than resist impact.
Is it not right, therefore, that rigid structures such as lamp-posts are replaced by suspended lighting strung from building walls?
In addition to making streets safer for wandering texters, they would reduce the contamination (and congestion) caused by dogs pausing to mark territory.

Well, G-CPTN, the doggies would just find something else to use as a spot for marking territory.

Now if we can just get those texting to stand still for a few minutes.....
