Is it possible to get a job and live in the US on an L1 visa.
I have never heard of this type of visa but my brother was telling me about it.
Does anyone have one?
Does it exist?

The L1 visa is an intracompany visa, allowing you to live and work in the US, for transfers with an existing employer.

Yes, you can live and work on it. I know a large number of people who have these visa's. The first individual I got one for was in 1991.

I suggest you read the INS site for full details and information; http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/index.htm

Yep as Cyclic Hotline says, the L1 visa is for intercompany transfers.
As a director of a UK software house, this is the Visa I received when I moved to the States to open a US branch of my company.
It took nearly 7 months to come through, which is longer than normal - I believe that they are currently taking approx 6-8 weeks.

You can find out more at the INS website.
