After ceasing operations in March 2007 there have been rumours of Austrian Airlines returning back to Sydney Australia or at least Australia skies at the least. The question is whether there is any truth to these rumours The problem here is that not too many airlines around the world return so soon to a route that was deemed unprofitable regardless of whether the speculation of whether cargo figures were accidently omitted from the financial reports which influenced the decision to withdraw services from a pretty lucrative market. Many Europeans would be thrilled if these rumours are true.

Seeing that Qantas and British Airways are the 2 main airlines that operate to Europe that do not have a hub in Asia could we see the return of another carrier..............

Turns out that Sydney airport has a few slot times for carriers and it appears that these rumours are well founded. The question is could they turn in a profit maybe but only if the fares rose substantially to meet the cost and expenditure. The only problem is that the fleet is not big enough and instead of 4-6 possible rotations to the US market they would only have 2 as the aircraft would be committed to longhaul sectors. The European community would flock to the return. Bring back the Niki I say!!!
