EK Housing! Furnished or Unfurnished Option

Hello !

Will be joining June 2008, I am told probable housing in Mirdif.

Is there anybody who would like to share any info on the 2 options. My wife would very much like to put her own "touch" on things, but how far do you get with 30.000 Dirhams.
How much would the appliances be ?
ex. Washing machine,fridge,oven,dishwasher ?
Is the Aircondition unit incl. in the unfurnished option ?

All info would be highly appreciated.

30000 will not go far enough but you are better off bying your own stuff because you will buy what you like and good quality. The EK stuff is crappy and will probably not last long, you will then have to buy your own stuff later anyway.

Yeah 30K won't get you far, should cover major appliances, a bed and possibly a kitchen table and a few chairs. Depends on where your wife likes to shop and what kind of stuff she likes.

Figure on spending at least double that depending on how much stuff you bring from home.

I know someone who will sell you a nice cream coloured leather couch for 20,000 DHS. barely used.

Or trade it for a boat and some scuba equipment :}

And from what I have seen in recent years, furniture and appliances supplied by EK are not that bad - but it is a question of taste and preferences.
