I hear there is a new BIG airport at Revensthorpe or Hopetown for a mine down there.

Do they allow light aircraft to land and park there for a few days. We go fishing in that area and this could save a long car ride.

Any locals opperate from the new strip.

Anyone help

Hi Richo,

I'm pretty sure you can use the airport. There is closed charter and RPT traffic. If you wait until the morning I'll be able to provide you contact details for the airport (they are at work) and you will be able to give them a call.

YNRV....New Ravensthorpe. Not to be confused with the old Ravensthorpe. I did, and ended walking to a nearby farmhouse for more information.

YNRV has been built by BHP Billiton for the Ravensthorpe Nickel Mine, still under construction I believe. It has a sealed strip which accomodates NJ's 146's and a dirt cross strip.

It's roughly half way between Ravensthorpe and Hopetoun.

Taking the Braz down there Richo?:ok:

Sorry for the delay, the contact details are 0428 381 259 and 0427 264 377. It is also in ERSA with full details of the strip, and yes you can use it. One thing to be mindfull of, I'm not sure if there is a hire car service out of the airport :)

Not so sure about that. I've got rellies down there and they say that the Esperance-Ravensthorpe road is chockas with traffic.
