Following Peeke's great thread on the 747 rostering I wondered if people would be kind enough to give me an insight into working on the 75/76 fleet in BA as I know very little about the fleet and what to expect.
My main concern is I will be very junior and as I understand not much recruitment is planned beneath me.

What will life be like on blind line? advantages and disadvantages.
What sort of trips can I expect to get? As im hoping for longhaul in order to commute will this be possible?
What do people believe will happen as the fleet begins to phase out?

Appreciate all replys and advice,

I'd be surprised if there are any DEPs going onto the 756 fleet. Is that what you have been offered?

I thought the same until I was offered a start date.
As before, will appreciate any input.

Hello

Fleet consists of:
13 B757s (11 by the time you get here probably)
7 Shorthaul 767s
14 Longhaul 767s

Even at the bottom life can be quite good on Blind Lines. You will see Africa on the Blindlines as these are done with 1 Capt and 2 FOs.

Flying is a great mix of Short, light 757 flights upto 767s at MTOM out of Africa.

Summer 2008 Destinations include:

Atlantic
EWR, JFK (from MAN as 7-day back-to-back) IAD, PHL, BWI, YYZ, NAS with Shuttle to GCM or PLS)

Africa
EBB, LUN, DAR (4 and 5 day trips - jewel in the crown is the 5-day M-F DAR which has weekends off at both ends)
ACC (nightstop)

Europe and slightly beyond
LIS, MAD, BCN, NCE, HEL (757s from T3)
GVA, AMS, DUS, FCO (sadly no more nightstops as the 757s are all in the Terminal that FCO doesn't go from), ATH (daytrip or standover), LCA (2-day), IST, DME
TLV (Longhaul 767)

European trips can be daytrips, 4 sector days, 3/4/5 day tours with multiple sectors bouncing off all of the above or simply 1 out on Day 1 and 1 back to finish on Day 2.

The joy is everyone wants something different.

hope this helps

sB
