COCKPIT VOICE RECORDINGS -- THINGS YOU DON'T DO WITH THEM...
There are very few jobs in this world that are as carefully monitored as
that of the airline pilot. Every word an airline pilot utters is
recorded. One of the few -- if not the only -- reasons pilots have
agreed to having Big Brother ride with them is that they wish to improve
safety. That notion is protected by federal law, which, with a touch of
class, prohibits the NTSB from releasing CVR tapes. As AVweb reported
Thursday, "Dateline: NBC" last week ignored this and aired tapes from
the December 1995 fatal crash of American Airlines Flight 965 at Cali,
Colombia.

...LIKE DRAWING THE WRATH OF ALPA
Capt. Duane Woerth, president of the Air Line Pilots Association,
International (ALPA) condemned the "breach of trust," saying "This is
every pilot's worst nightmare..." and use of the tape was "an
exploitative and sensationalistic spectacle." ALPA's objections echo
those voiced by the NTSB and spotlight a very delicate area of
sensibility. Pilots are responsible for the lives under their care and
anyone who's ever flown shares an interest in their pilot's performance.
Passengers may feel they have a right to know what goes on in the
cockpit and when studied by industry-savvy professionals, CVR tapes may
provide a unique understanding of the cockpit environment. This in turn
may lead to substantial safety improvements -- but when it comes to
exposing that same material to lay people, that may not be the case.

I can understand this argument as long as the NTSB doesn't mess with the tapes, but the NTSB has altered these tapes in the past. They also have altered ATC audio AND radar tapes to better fit their scenarios.

It appears as if the system is corrupt.

Tell you co-workers about this. Your lives and the lives of your passengers are in danger. Don't let you loved ones read this after you're gone.

E-mail the whitehouse and let them know that YOU know the truth. Here is a sample letter to make it easy. Copy and paste the letter and this address....

Mr. President,

I have recently read an article on the internet from Mr. James Bergquist who claims to be a former FAA air traffic controller. He also claims he has written you a dozen letters to you, most recently on 9/20/98, 7/11/99, and on 1/18/00, informing you of druguse on the job by FAA air traffic controllers and criminal activity within your administration. Additionally, he claims that he sent you tapes of telephone conversations with his co-workers, the FAA, DOT IG, the FBI, and the Whitehouse. He claims that he has written to the NTSB Chairman, Mr. James Hall on 6/22/98 and to the FBI director on 1/18/98 and has not gotten a response to any of his letters.

I don't know if his information is correct, but if any of his allegations are true, the lives of millions of Americans are in imminent danger and an investigation should be conducted ASAP. His latest letter of 1/18/00 can be seen at.... http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/Forum1/HTML/006057.html

I trust you will respond to Mr. Bergquist at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,
