DFW is almost equidistant between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. I don't know how long you're staying but here are some places to see while you are in the area:

Dallas - The West End,in downtown... plenty of evening dining and entertainment. On the opposite side of Elm Street (about a mile and a half east of the West End) is 'Deep Ellum', where there are several night clubs and restaurants as well. If you are interested in a bit of history there is a museum dedicated to the assassination of President Kennedy and its legacy on Dallas on the sixth floor of the former Texas School Book depository.

The Mid-Cities - These are the suburbs that lie in between Dallas and Fort Worth. If you want to catch the American national pastime of baseball, the Texas Rangers play at the Ball Park in Arlington. If you're used to cricket there are some similarities to it in terminology. For American football, the Dallas Cowboys play at Texas Stadium.

Fort Worth - Also known as 'Cowtown' it's main claim to fame is the stockyards to the north of town (it was the beginning point for the old Chisholm trail). For genuine Texas honky-tonk visit the world's largest which is 'Billy Bob's Texas', also in the stockyards.

And be aware of strange and unusual liquor laws in the area... each county and precinct can declare itself 'wet' or 'dry' at their option. In dry areas liquor may be served only if you are a member of a 'club', and you will be asked for membership if you order alcoholic beverages. Membership is free. There is a particular street in Dallas which straddles the precinct line between a wet and dry precinct. All the bars and liquor stores are on the wet side of the street.

Hope this helps.
