In the USA, you still need a 4 year college degree to apply for an airline job. Are the requirements lower in Europe?, and is class X = GED. Please give us some input on the latest education + flight requirements in India.

Class x in India is the same as tenth grade(sophomore) in the US. You have to go through grades 11 and 12 to be considered a high school grad. What the article says is that, until now, you had to have completed grades 11 and 12 with a science (Math, Physics Chemistry) background. In India, you can opt to go the business education(commerce) or fine arts way from grade 11 onwards. That makes you automatically ineligibel to pursue higher education in a scientific field or profession, including flying.
However, under the altered rules you could still be considered for flying training if you at least completed class (grade) 10 with physics and math. Prior to this you had to have done the junior and senior years as a science kid for flying training.
You do not , as yet, need a college degree for a pilot's job. Only required if you are going the Armed Forces route.
Here in the US, it is the same. You still have to have the licenses and certifications to qualify for an Airline job. The degree you need to have can be for Underwater Basket Weaving. It is just a tick in the box on the application form.
