Reports coming through that an Air Algerie 737 has overrun at Lyons following an aborted take off. Pax evacuated via slides and runway closed. No injuries.

Isn't this the second Air Algerie 737 to overrun at LYS this year? To lose one 737 is unfortunate, to lose two is careless! :)

Described as "front and right gear failures" - not sure if they collapsed or if there was a multiple tyreburst or what...

Kokordski. Are you saying it used to be a 737 but now it's a lot of little bits?

Hang on. Just been told it's an A-310.

Isn't it one of the two ex BCal A310-200s that were sold to Libya in the mid 80s by a company called Cobra, registered in Hong Kong, in breach of sanctions imposed by the UK following the shooting of WPC Yvonne Fletcher?

I believe that they still belong to Libyan Arab - they were leased to Air Algerie as the Colonel realised that in the wake of the Lockerbie sanctions he asn't going anywhere with them! Surprised he hasn't asked for them back, though...
