Done the Florida trip with them 3 times in their A330s. Sat down the back first time. Never again, very cramped. Since then we've paid a bit extra to sit up front. It's similar to scheduled premium economy, well worth it. Lots of extras included like extra baggage allowance and choice of meal, free drinks etc. Very nice it was.

If you can get them the window front bulkhead seats are brilliant. Only two on each side though.

Anybody know if there is truth to the rumour that MON are to join TOM and TCX and upgrade their long-haul economy cabin to increase the seat pitch? If so, when and to what standard?

Am flying with them LGW-Luxor in June - the flights are shown as having premium cabin, so am assuming it will be a 330 or their 767. If they are going to upgrade the economy cabin I may resist the otherwise required coughing up for the premium cabin to keep the wife happy!

Cheers,
Jet

Hmmm, we i actually booked a holiday with thomas cook, and the flights are with monarch, any reason for this?

Yes Monarch have been doing long haul flights for Thomas Cook and Mytravel for a number of summers from mostly regional airports.
You also have to remember that Monarch may be operating a flight to where ever and a number of tour companies will buy blocks of seats, this happens on many charter flights by many airlines.

The 330 also flies non-stop Gatwick - Maldives every Sunday and Monday evening with, I believe, the Monday night service via Manchester. Both return on the Monday and Tuesday evening.
