Hello everyone. We are having problems with our #1 Eng.. It is having compressor stalls during accelleration. We have changed the PRBC, P&D and Fuel Control. Performed all Trim checks. Also we checked to see if all the bleeds where opening and they were. Any ideas where to go from here. This is a new engine that was just installed on the aircraft. The engine is a JT8D-9A with the 5150 incorporated on it. Thanks

I have had the same issues with JT8-9A. Ended up pulling off engine. Just because it came from the shop is no indication the high pressure section is not worn out. You may want to check that the 8th stage check valves have arrows for flow pointing from 8th stage source air.
I did the same as you with FCU, PRBC etc before pulling, pain in the ass.
Good Luck

This is a new motor we just recieved...I looks as if we are going to have to pull it.

Carry out full lubrication of bleed valves.

On the run you did, are they opening and closing within parameters?

Any chance of the compressor being dirty?

I have had bleeds remain open due to a broken PS4 line on #3 engine on a 727. No stalls at spool up. The problem is you cannot obtain takeoff power even when throttle firewalled.

Chk the PS3 filter for debris.

New? or just recently overhauled?
