Word on Vista - Convert to PDF

In case anyone else gets stuck with this:
Vista with Word 2003 (but I think any version & any Office App would do this) when you install Acrobat, 2 additional menu items load on the office apps which allow conversion of documents to acrobat pdf.
The menu "Adobe PDF" is there but doesn't work & "Acrobat Comments" menu heading is dimmed.

After wasting a morning I stumbled on why. In Word/Help/About MS Office Word there is a button bottom right with "disabled items" that - is how to turn it all back on.

Doesn't disable in XP, it's a Vista :mad: thing.

Just to add to the above, if you have Office 2007 you can download the "Microsoft Save as PDF" add on from https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=F1FC413C-6D89-4F15-991B-63B07BA5F2E5&displaylang=en for nowt!

Also, if you don't want to spend money on Acrobat, you can get Bullzip PDF writer for free from http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php - works really well too!

There have been nasties circulating via PDF files recently, so maybe not as daft as it seems on first sight. Agree a clue would be handy though.

Acrobat has security holes too, and "tainted" pdf's have been used (as seen here http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/10/24/pdf_exploit_in_the_wild/ ).

There's no such thing as a "safe" filetype any more, someone will find a way to hijack it.

How about plain text, .txt, opened in Notepad? Of course the usual disclaimers about double suffixes apply.
